Assessing the knowledge, attitudes, and current referral practices from rural PCPs to cancer genetic counseling
AAA
You are invited to participate in a research study, the purpose of which is to survey primary care providers (PCPs) who currently practice in a rural area. The study aims to better understand how rural PCPs are able to recognize when a patient may benefit from cancer genetic counseling or testing.
The survey should take about 15-20 minutes to complete. This is an anonymous survey and upon completion, you may voluntarily include your email to be entered in a drawing for one of two $75 Amazon e-gift cards. Surveys must be completed in full and email addresses must be volunteered to be considered for the gift card drawing.
There are minimal risks associated with participating, including the risk of potential loss of confidentiality. Efforts to maintain confidentiality include the use of a secure cloud-based software for data storage and your responses will not be linked to your email for confidentiality.
There are no direct benefits to participating, however, knowledge gained from this study could potentially benefit rural patients. This survey was created by the research team after reviewing and analyzing previous studies that employed surveys to ascertain either PCP or patient knowledge regarding genetic testing.
It's entirely up to you whether to join this research study. You can decide not to participate in the study even after you have started the survey. The UAMS Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other institutional oversight offices may review the information we collect, to ensure that the research is being done correctly. To contact the UAMS IRB, please email irb@uams.edu or call 501-686-5667.
